What is Activated Carbon?
Activated carbon or activated charcoal, processed to increase the surface areas for absorption purpose. The activation process produces small, low-volume pores in the carbon. The efficiency level of an activation is determined by the level of microporosity of the carbon. The application of activated carbon is wide and span across many areas which include industrial, medical, environmental, chemical and agricultural. Activated carbon can be used in chemical storage, air purification, solvent recovery, decaffeination, gold purification, metal extraction, water purification, medicine, sewage treatment, air filters in respirators, filters in compressed air, teeth whitening, production of hydrogen chloride and many other applications.
